Korea leads world in proportion of people working more than 49 hours per week      

According to the Bank of Korea, 32 percent of Korean workers coped with near 50-hour workweeks.

In Japan, that number stood at 20.1 percent.

On the other end of the spectrum, just 9.3 percent of workers in Germany worked excessive overtime.

Annually, Korean workers logged 2,024 hours, much higher than the OECD average of 1,759 hours.  

Here again, Germany led the way with an annual average of just 1,356 hours worked per worker.

Reflecting the need to curb long hours at work and strike a better work-life balance, Seoul recently introduced a maximum 52-hour work week.

Trump Praises Kim Jong-un as Smart, a Good Negotiator

US President Donald Trump recently lavished praise on North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, calling him "smart" and a "good negotiator."

The remarks came during an interview with the UK's second-largest newspaper, the Daily Mail.

When pressed about Kim's ruthlessness, Trump agreed, but deflected the issue by saying that other leaders are ruthless, too.

During the same interview, Trump expressed his desire to run again in the 2020 presidential elections.

Trump is making his first official visit to the UK since he took office last year. It is, however, not a state visit.

Alcohol largest cause of summertime accidents  

Drinking was found to be the cause of most drowning accidents in Korea's national parks during the past five years.  

A closer look at the numbers reveals that since 2013, five out of six drowning victims in the months of July and August had imbibed alcohol.  

Alcohol typically increases one's heart rate and dilates blood vessels.

Jumping into cold water can cause the blood vessels to contract rapidly, placing stress on one's heart, which could potentially lead to a heart attack.

So except for cocktails, water and alcohol don't mix.
