엄마, 저 강아지 키우고 싶어요.

Mom, I want a dog.

음, 우리 아들 이리 와서 앉으렴.

My sweetie, come here and sit down.

강아지를 키우는건 책임이 따르는 일이란다. 

Having a dog takes responsibility.

너 매일 강아지 밥 주고 산책시킬 수 있겠니? 그리고 용변도 치울거야?

Can you feed and walk it every day? And will you clean up after it?

potty-train 배변훈련하다.

할 수 있을 것 같아요.

좋아. 보니까 네가 강아지를 키울 준비가 되어있는 것 같다.

All right, It seems like you are ready to have a dog.

그럼 저 강아지 사주실거에요?

Then will you buy me a dog.

아니, 우린 강아지를 입양할거야.

No, We are going to adopt one.

네, 좋아요. 고맙습니다. 엄마.

Okay, cool. thanks mom.

하지만 그러긴 전에 유기견 보호소에서 자원봉사를 하자.

But before we do that, let's volunteer at a dog shelter.

자, 유기견 보호소에 왔네. 저희가 뭘하면 될까요?

All right. We are here at the pound. What do you need us to do?

우선 우리 청소리를 해주세요. 그리고나서 강아지들을 산책시켜주시면 돼요.

First, please clean the cages. After that you can walk the dogs.

목줄이랑 비닐봉지는 저쪽에 있습니다.

Leashes and plastic bags are over there.

할 수 있겠니? 

Can you do that? 

그럼요, 준비됐어요. 엄마.

Of course, I'm ready mom.

이 강아지는 왜 이래요? 다리를 저는대요.

What is wrong with this dog? It's limping.

-> limp 다리를 절다. 성별을 모르기 때문에 he/she가 아닌 it으로 표현했다. = It has a limp.

여기 오기 전에 다리를 다쳤단다.

He hurt his leg before coming here.

cf) hurt의 쓰임

    Are you hurt? 다쳤어?

    Did you hurt your leg? 다리 다쳤니?

    Does it hurt? 아프니?

어, 가엽어라. 엄마 우리 이 강아지 집에 데리고 가요. 얘한테 우리가 필요할 것 같아요.

Oh, poor baby. Mom, let's take him home. I think he needs us.

그래, 그렇게 하자.

이 강아지를 뭐라고 부를까요?

What can/should we call him?

얘한테 좋은 이름을 생각해보자.

Let's come up with a good name for him.

써니 어때요? 

How about sunny?

왜 써니야?

Why sunny?

제 이름과 비슷해서요. 진짜 제 동생인 것 같잖아요.

Because it's similar to my name. It sounds like he is my real my brother.

그럼 그러자, 이걸로 정해진거야. 이제부터는 얘를 써니라고 부르자.

Okay, then it's settled. Let's call him sunny, from now on.
