Easy, Can you drop me off at the nearest subway station?

-> 영국에서 subway는 지하보도(underpass)이다. 전철은 underground라고 부른다. 동남아는 metro라 한다.

= Can you take me to subway station?

= Can you give me a ride to subway station?

= Would you mind taking me to the subway station?

오늘은 자전거 안타고 왔어요?

You didn't ride your bike today?

자전거가 수리점에 있어요. 오늘 아침에 자동차 문에 부딪쳤거든요.

My bike is at the repair shop. I got doored this morning.

-> got door 문콕하다.(요즘 생긴 말로 나이 드신 분은 모를 수도 있다.)

= I hit car door this morning.

문에 부딪치단요?

What do you mean? You got doored?

= What do you meant by that?

어떤 사람이 갑자기 연 차 문에 부딪쳤어요.

I hit a car door that someone opened suddenly.

아 그러셨구나. 요즘에 그런 사고가 많이 일어난다고 들었어요.

Right, They do it to check it if any biker/bicyclists are approaching.

= Why do they do that? It's to check for bikers.

= Hey, there's a biker approaching from behind.

= Step aside.

네덜란드의 운전자들은 수 십 년 째 그렇게 하도록 교육을 받았다고 하네요.

Drivers in Holland have been trained to do that for decades.

사실 네덜란드에서 자전거 타는 사람들이 많죠.

Actually, there are a lot of bikers in Holland.

-> 오토바이를 타는 사람도 'biker'로 부를 수 있다. 구분 짓기 위해서 'bicyclist'로 표현할 수 있다.

맞아요. 그리고 엄청 빠르다고 하더라고요.

I know, and I heard that they are really fast. 

-> They commute by bike.

맞습니다. 운전자가 오른손으로 차 문을 열 때 몸이 돌아가면서 도로의 왼쪽을 향하게 되잖아요.

That's right. When the driver opens the door with his right hand, and his body turns and faces the left side of the road.

그러면 자전거를 탄 사람과의 충돌을 피할 수 있겠네요.

So they can avoid collisions with (on coming) bikers. 

= Watch out for bikers.

= Check for bikers.

한국에서도 자전거의 대수가 늘어나고 있잖아요. 그리고 전보다 사고도 훨씬 더 많아졌고요.

Even in Korea, the number of bikes is increasing, and there are much more accidents than before.

= More people are riding bikes.

= There are more and more bicyclist.

네, 저도 더치 리치를 해봐야겠어요.
